Welcome to World History with Mr. Colemer!

World History is a nine week elective social studies course. In this course we will study the development of major civilizations, cultures, religions, events, and technologies throughout the history of the world. In our pursuit of knowledge of how the world has grown and changed we will also learn about new technology that is available and how to use it in the classroom.
To begin we will use an old teaching method called a "jigsaw" activity. This is an activity in which the students each gain knowledge of a certain topic and then they each share their knowledge with the others. We will put a modern twist on this old strategy by using a wiki site to share our information instead of the traditional formal presentation. In doing this students will gain in-depth knowledge of the topic on which they become experts and at the same time they will learn to use this new interactive and collaborative technology.
